MRF Tyres are excited to announce that the Excels will be back at Bathurst as part of the revised ARG 6-hour event in November 2020. While the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in the traditional Easter event being postponed, ARG in conjunction with Mentor tyres have been working behind the scenes to ensure all competitors who had entered would be able to participate in the Bathurst International in November.
With a revised format, the new for 2020 event will be hosting a range of categories including TCR, LMP3, S5000, TCM, TA2 and APC providing excitement and plenty of opportunities for Excel competitors to enjoy this marquee event both on and off track. Given the revised timing, entries have also reopened to competitors who may have missed out in the first round or who may not have met the minimum age or licence requirements in time for Easter.
“MRF Tyres would like to thank ARG for making it possible to hold the MRF Tyres Excel Challenge as part of the Bathurst International event” said Vivek Ponnusamy, CEO of Mentor Tyres, the exclusive importer of MRF Tyres for Australia and New Zealand.
“We would also like to thank each and every competitor for understanding and lending their support during these tough times and without them, this wouldn’t have been possible. The tyres are ready and everyone at MRF is looking forward to a mega event! With motorsport activities beginning to resume, MRF Bathurst tyres are also available for testing so please get in touch with us to order.”
What a weekend at QRDC Round 1 – Lakeside to kick off the season.
Had a great qualifying in P2 then made a stupid mistake to drop to the back of the field of 26 cars. Raced back to P11 all be it a bit battered and bruised after a few incidents during the race.

Started race 2 in P11 and made it all the way up to P5 before being punted off the track and finishing in P11 again!!
Race 3 stared out of P11 and finished P6! Great fun and good racing all be it getting a few more hits!

Started race 4 in P4 after the incident between Simon Winters and Pommie John saw them with written of cars!! Hope you boys are all OK and the cars can be replaced!
Made it up to P2 at one stage and then dropped back to P3 after the handling went off. Then we struck oil! Well someone else’s that is and landed up in the fence at the bottom of Eastern loop.
Now the funny thing. Ended up with the fastest lap of the race 1.05.6261!! The dream team of Peter and Tony still have a heap to do with the set up as it went off a cliff!!
Check the videos section of our site to see it all unfold!!
